Our team members Helen and Tim took the Healthwatch Northumberland stand to Northumberland Pride which took place on 28 August 2021. The event is only in its third year and had to be cancelled in 2020, but cam back with a vengeance this year at new venue, People’s Park in Ashington.
Over 4000 people attended the event, which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. As well as lots of entertainment throughout the day, a Health and Wellbeing Zone and a Children, Young People and Families Area, visitors were able to speak to local services and organisations, pick up information and even get a Covid-19 vaccination.
We asked visitors to tell us how satisfied they are with the NHS and social care services they and their families have used, by adding a coloured ball to a bucket, choosing either ‘satisfied’, ‘dissatisfied’ or ‘neither satisfied or dissatisfied’. We were then able to ask why they chose the bucket they did.
There was also information on our own and local services for people to pick up, plus we gave away dozens of our goodie bags and held a competition to win our Pride disco dog. The winner was Lacey from Newbiggin (see picture below), who named the dog Dexter and got to take him home.
See you next year Pride!
