Across the North East and North Cumbria, the local Healthwatch network is working together to tackle this important issue.

My dentist has just gone private, previously I was able to claim cost from my health scheme but they don’t pay out for private treatment
i am eligable for NHS dentistry as a disabled pensioner.
my dentist who treated me on NHS for several years went private only. i have no choice but to pay as it’s impossible to find NHS treatment in Hexham. fortunately i receive PIP, without it i wouldn’t be able to access treatment.as disability means i can’t travel outside hexham to find an NHS dentist.
I have been a patient at Amble Dental Practice for about 6 years now. I am an older NHS patient and have always had good care from them, with no problems getting regular appointments.
I have been trying to get access to a NHS dentist for 10 months. There are now no NHS dentists in Berwick upon Tweed and those in towns to the South are full. Nhs dentists in Scottish Borders are not accepting new NHS patients. What are we supposed to do to access dental care?
Not enough NHS dentists. I am happy with the surgery I use…but they are pushing for everyone to go private. As I am an NHS patient I wait longer to get an appointment. Not good if you’re in pain.
Our NHS dentist closed their practice in Berwick upon Tweed. There are no dentists in North Northumberland accepting NHS patients and that includes their waiting list. We are currently having to pay for private treatment.
